[quote user="Stitch"]Everyone (Reviewer) has his own kind of way to stay in this business. Most buy their stuff at reviewers price from manufacturer, some start with their own gear and think about upgrades and how it can be done ( is a "recommendatio...

I would say that there are advancements where you would get far more unanimity on the progress that had been made than one would do for audio after the development of tape. I don't think anyone would want to go back to cylinders. So there are advance...

Well HP has provided only a couple of posts in the past 6 months and they are very embarrassing to read brief as they are. Whatever one might one think of HP the old TAS was an entertaining and well written mag to read as long as one treated it as a ...

What I was trying to say so inelegantly some posts ago....

We don't know enough about the person X to assess the situation. I might say something similar if I went to a local semiprofessional orchestra, paid a few bucks and heard them play better than I expected. If I had paid $100 and spent an hour each way...

I was referring to the audiences and music buyers who acquire the above artists recordings, not the reviewer's opinions. I assume the audience didn't walk out or fail to applaud. ...

"Their review of the M2 was however the most frivolous piece of writing about serious music I've read since, oh, 1958.The
performance came across on the radio much better than it did evidently
in the hall. It did evince a good d...

Romy: I spent
today another hour, trying to kill the noise. ... Eventually I allocate the problem being my
Blue Ray player – with it insertion in system the noise comes and there
is looks like no way to get rid of it. Are you saying...

Are you sure the remodeling didn't do it? I assume you mean you moved it back into the remodeled room. One time some years ago I was in a recording studio and wanted to use my Millenia mic preamp into the ADC. So I asked them to turn off the mixing bo...

Romy, I wasn't referring to the specifics of the assertions in each article. I was referring to the writing style....

I made the mistake of clicking on the first link. It is a dangerous thing to try to parody Stereophile or TAS articles or writers. At least I think that was what the writer was attempting to do. If he was serious then he is writing for the wrong site...

Romy said "The female reasoning! God! Sometimes I am so envy to gay people…"And you seriously think you would escape it There!??This is no different than any male oriented hobby except possibly for home repair. You could have model trains,...

Unfortunately Lenny Bernstein did nothing to advance Bruckner here and the critic Harold Schonberg kept up the verbal abuse against him for 30 years or so. Romy is correct that Bruckner requires performance familiarity. A few rehearsals won't cut it....

This is a funny thread and more amusing than anything in Stereophile or TAS these days. I get the feeling that they are both just going through the motions and are having trouble writing about any of this stuff. Even they can't fail to notice that th...

"I guess it
never occurred to me how special it is to have a stable relationship
with a woman with whom you can sit down, discuss yesterday's symphony
over a bottle of Bordeaux, and then she tolerates you smoking your pipe
by the fi...

Romy says So, I would
like to post to the readers of my site a question: what in your view
would be the most mandatory and the most prominent ingredient in
high-end audio?
Where high-end audio starts in...

Romy says "I have his 8
symphony with Métropolitain and it is at time very stimulating. Now I
wonder, the symphonies 4 and 6 that Atma Classique offer as 24Bit
download, are they the dabs of master files of juts up streamed CDs?"Well ...

Agree completely. In addition I am always leery of having electrical components cycling on and off just from a reliability and longevity standpoint. Turn it on and leave it on unless there are tubes....

I was only talking about AC regenerators and PP in the context of a dedicated powerline for the audio system. If one does Not have a dedicated powerline you will not find a post from me saying the difference is no big deal. If you do have a dedicated...

Adrian: Well, Romy,
it is just as I said, I have the same experience with Michelle. She can
very clearly tell the difference, and can always correctly identify
which is which, but relates to it more as "the humidity is high and they

Adrian says , "However, if you do not
purchase it, then please ask Richard to send it directly to my house,
and I will happily evaluate it also."I don't think that in the great chain of being, you are the next stop for PP. Just saying.

Perhaps Romy has found a new kind of distortion that wonderfully cancels out some other distortion that has made its appearance under cover of the great electricity day. Of course when the great electricity day becomes the astonishing electricity day...

Dear Mr Johnsen, Not that you had any choice. But you missed out on the extemporaneous mods....

I think we are back again to the issue of the dedicated AC lines and what external (outside of the home) garbage can enter through them. My own anecdotal impression is that there are two opposing trends from the power company. One is positive in that...

The post sounds like the 500 word synonym for "analytical". In my experience most changes from a satisfactory prior model means it gets more analytical rather than more like live music. Your description is very close to what I would have written abou...

Maybe I'm not following novygera but isn't that what electrostatic speakers already do? I mean the full range ones. I thought some of Magnepan's smaller models only had quasi ribbon drivers also. I agree that it is not likely that one type of speaker...

This is a very interesting issue you raised. I would say that before audio designers could proceed in such a textbook manner they would have to be able to recreate original sounds in any given environment. (I'm limiting the discussion here to acousti...

I have not been injured by PP so I have no axe to grind. When a vendor slimes a customer in public rather than working it out with them, studiously ignores another customer who has been without a returned system for years and belittles a third custom...
|
The obvious solution is for Romy to purchase each of PP's new units and report to the rest of us his experiences....
|
That's not the only thing that wasn't answered. There is also the statement by hifigirlgeek that the electrician said the PP 2000+ does not meet code at least in NZ/AUS. This raises the issue whether they all don't meet code or whether it's limited t...
